Evander Hollyfield(43-10-2, 28 KOs) takes the World Boxing Federation Heavy Weight title by stopping Frans Botha(47-5-3) in the eight round. Frans Botha is the defending champion and yielded the crown to Hollyfield.
The 47 years old Hollyfield knock out the 41 years old Botha with 2:05 left in the eighth, the later get up from his feet but the referee stop the fight later.
This fight was the first of Hollyfield after 16months. He was behind the scorecard of the two judges after the referee, Russell Mora stopped it.
Two judges, Jerry Roth and Glenn Feldman, had Botha ahead 67-66 when the fight was stopped. The other judge, Herb Santee, had it 69-64 for Holyfield.
Hollyfield mentioned to the media that he will seek more title fights.
"I'm going to be the undisputed world heavyweight champion," he said.
